Stunning views, rugged terrain and uniquely Georgian Bay, this project was a wonderful experience.
Beautifully situated on an island on Georgian Bay, this mid-century modern style cottage was built in 2015 by GB Heintzman. Originally a cherished family cottage, this new construction was rebuilt around the existing fireplace, salvaging barn board from the old cottage and re-using it in the new building. The clients had brilliant ideas to use natural materials blending contemporary fashion with the past. Nailed it! The great cottage memories remained intact.
The beautiful views of the open Georgian Bay waters results in the renown Westerly Winds, an almost constant force. The cottage stays warm and cozy while enjoying the unparalleled views from inside.
Construction was rebuilt around the existing fireplace of the old cottage that stood before it.
Reclaimed barn board from the old cottage was used throughout.
Corner window installed so the view could be appreciated from all angles.
